Science Experiment

Today in Science, we investigated what is a gas, and happened when blew gas into a balloon! I observed learnt that when the gas is blown into the balloon, the balloon expanded. If the balloon expanded too much, it blew up! The fun part was that when we released the balloon it flew around the classroom!

If the World Was a Village of 100 People

This term in HSIE we are learning about Global Connections. Today we watched a video called "If the World Was a Village of 100 People". Before viewing the video, we predicted how many people from each continent there would out of the 100 people. I enjoyed seeing how many people there were from each continent and was sad to see how many people live in poverty and don't have access to clean water. Please click on the link above to watch the video.

ANZAC Day

On Friday the 24th of April St Columbkille’s students attended an ANZAC ceremony to celebrate the 100th year anniversary, in our school hall. We remembered the ships that carried the brave, and we remembered how brave the soldiers were. Our school choir sang beautifully, and we also had a touching story told from Mrs Patton about her Pa. The ceremony ended with the New Zealand and Australian National anthem.

Slime - Is it a solid or a liquid?

Today in class we carried out a science experiment. The aim of our experiment was to observe if slime was a liquid or a solid.  We used the ingredients cornflower, water and food colouring to make slime. We then combined all the ingredients to observe what happened to the cornflour when we added water. After the experiment, we got into small groups and played with it, this was fun!
