This term Year 6 have been learning about the
four forms of spelling. The four forms of spelling are phonological, visual,
morphemic and etymological knowledge. Phonological knowledge is how words and
letter combinations sound; Visual knowledge is the way the words and letter
combinations look; Etymological is the study of the word origins; and Morphemic
is the meaning of the words and the way these words change form. Each day we
focus on a form of spelling which helps us learn our spelling rules.
